The school health programme is the only public sector programme specially focused on school age children.
It's main focus is to address the health needs of children, both physical and mental, and in addition, it provides for nutrition interventions and counselling strictly during school hours.
It response to an increased need, increases the efficacy of other investments in child development, ensures good current and future health, better educational outcomes and improves social equity. All the services are provided for a cost effective manner.
BENEFITS
To The School
It is community-centered and personalized. Representatives from the school, NGO and Hospital shall oversee the smooth running of the scheme. They are expected to meet quarterly to review the scheme.
Health Bay shall be staffed, stocked with the essential medication and manned by the scheme through the healthcare provider.
The nurses will cover the sick bay by rotation to enable them come to clinic forreal exposure and training on BLS, and PALS. Staff of the school shall be covered throughout the year issued
During school major activities an ambulance and emergency team will be made available without additional cost. E.g. inter house sports competition.
The burden of pre-employment and pre admission medical examination bills will be bore by the scheme.
To The Pupils
Pupils are attended to at the sick bay and possibly at the hospital on referral without hospital charges as long as it falls within the scope of this scheme.
